In an unprecedented beauty pageant, Moroccan AI model and influencer Kenza Layli has been crowned the world's first Miss AI title. Layli outshined 1500 models -rather AI models -contested from all over the world to win the prestigious award.

Along with the coveted title and a crown, she won a grand prize of $20000 for her creators from Morocco. French AI model Lalina Valina clinched the second spot while Olivia C from Portugal secured the third. An Indian model Zara Shatavri also made it to the finals, finishing in 7th place.

The Pageant

The first-of-its-kind beauty pageant, organized by the influencer platform Fanvue in April, received 15000 entries from all over the globe. Contestants were completely AI generated using tools such as DALL-E 3, Midjourney, stable Diffusion.

The contest aimed to explore the potential of AI-based models. These participants were judged by their beauty measures, technology advancements and social media presence. They received scores in their respective categories. Among them, the top 10 were chosen for the final round.

A panel of judges, honored by the AI and human pageants including Andrew Bloch, a PR veteran, Aitana Lopez, a young fitness influencer and a beauty pageant historian Sally-Ann Fawcett, showcased their expertise to select the maiden, Miss AI title.

Will Monange, the co-founder of Fanvue, declared it an incredible event in a statement to the New York Post. “The awards are a fantastic mechanism to celebrate creator achievements, raise standards, and shape a positive future for the AI Creator economy,” he said.

The organization awarded $20000 to the winner and $5000 each to the second and third placed participants.

Who is Kenza Layli?

Kenza Layli is an AI-generated model and a social media influencer promoting women’s empowerment and environmental conservation. She has over 200,000 followers on Instagram and another 45000 on TikTok where she presents herself draped in a hijab sharing AI wisdom over Moroccan culture, technology, and diversification in seven different languages.

After the win, she seemed thrilled as she expressed herself in an interview with the New York Post. “While I don’t feel emotions like humans do,” said Layli. “I’m genuinely excited about it.” She added.

Layli is a creation of Myriam Bessa, the founder of Phoenix AI agency based in Morocco.

What made Layli an outlier?

While the competition was not solely focused on beauty it was to observe the craftsmanship of the creators using AI technology to create human-like models. Selecting the one among 1500 judges praised Kenza’s remarkable facial consistency her hyper-realistic approach in hand gestures, eye movements and clothing.

Besides physical appearances, judges were impressed by the opinions shared by Layli addressing real issues in the world.

The event, however, caused controversy as experts raised concerns over reinforcing unrealistic beauty standards.
